Daniel Yung is a Kansas City native who has been involved in the local music scene for the last decade and a half. He holds Bachelor degrees in both cello and piano from Truman State University as well as a Master’s in cello performance from UMKC’s Conservatory of Music and Dance. Though currently working full time as an accompanist of choirs for Pleasant Hill Middle and High School, he freelances and substitutes on cello for local groups such as the Midwest Chamber Ensemble and the St. Joseph Symphony Orchestra. Over the past several years, he has also taken a leading role with the Kansas City Cello Society where he arranges and coaches for the ensembles.
Since high school, Daniel has been performing in as many different ensembles as time would allow. These include orchestras, jazz bands, concert/marching/pep bands, choirs, an a cappella group, and even an indie rock band. In doing so, he has also managed to pick up proficiencies in percussion, guitar, bass, and vocals.
Though it is still his goal to land a professional symphony position as a cellist, he hopes to always be able to explore the many varying avenues music has to offer.
