Marthe deVries Cox is originally from Philadelphia, and studied at the Eastman School of Music. Upon completion of a Bachelor Music in Violin Performance degree, she performed in Europe and many parts of the country. This year is the 30th anniversary of her move to the area, when she joined the Kansas City Symphony.
After the birth of her first of two sons, she resigned from the Symphony to be home with her children, which was very important to her. She continues to be active in the music community as a performer, coach, and violin teacher, and is very excited about the Westwood Ensemble’s Alpha Season!
Ms. Cox shares her passion for music with a love of fiber. When not playing the violin or teaching, you will often find her at the spinning wheel or loom, or with knitting needles in hand creating something beautiful. For her spinning yarn is “like zen”, a wonderful way to relax.
